Welcome to Shave Compass. These Terms of Service govern your use of shavecompass.com and purchases made through Shave Compass. By using this website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms, along with the policies referenced below.
Using Shave Compass
You may use Shave Compass for lawful, personal purposes. You agree not to misuse the website, interfere with its operation or security, attempt unauthorized access, or use the site in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of Shave Compass or others.
You are responsible for providing accurate and current information when placing an order or creating an account and for maintaining the security of any account credentials associated with your use of the site.
Products and Product Information
Shave Compass curates and sells products from independent artisans, manufacturers, and other suppliers, along with products and collections assembled or offered directly by Shave Compass.
I make reasonable efforts to present product descriptions, photographs, ingredients, availability, pricing, and other information accurately. Product appearance may vary from photographs or displays, and information supplied by artisans, manufacturers, or other third parties may change.
Products may be changed, discontinued, or limited in quantity or availability at any time.
Orders and Payment
Submitting an order is an offer to purchase. Orders are subject to acceptance and availability. Payment is collected using the payment methods offered at checkout.
Prices and promotions may change without notice, but the price charged for an accepted order will be the price shown at checkout when the order is placed, excluding any later adjustment agreed to between you and Shave Compass.
Shave Compass reserves the right to cancel or decline an order because of product availability, pricing or listing errors, suspected fraud, payment issues, purchase limits, or other reasonable circumstances. If Shave Compass cancels an order after payment has been collected, the applicable amount will be refunded.
Products purchased through Shave Compass are intended for personal use unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Preorders
Some Shave Compass products, including limited Expeditions or other special releases, may be offered for preorder before they are ready to ship. Payment may be collected in full when the preorder is placed.
Preorder products do not follow the standard processing timeline for in-stock products. The applicable product page will state the estimated shipping timeline and any product-specific preorder conditions available at the time of purchase.
Estimated preorder timelines are made in good faith but may change because of artisan production, inventory availability, inbound shipping, packaging, or other circumstances involved in preparing the release. If a material delay or other significant change affects an accepted preorder, Shave Compass will communicate with affected customers.
Cancellation eligibility for a preorder is governed by the cancellation terms presented at the time of purchase and any applicable Shave Compass refund or cancellation policy.
Shipping, Returns, and Refunds
Shipping is governed by the Shave Compass Shipping Policy. Returns, refunds, damaged items, and other post-purchase matters are governed by the Shave Compass Return Policy.
Some products may be fulfilled directly by an artisan or other third party. When that occurs, fulfillment and delivery timing may differ from products shipped directly by Shave Compass.
The Atlases and Curated Information
The Scent Atlas, Blade Atlas, scent territories, classifications, mappings, recommendations, comparisons, and other navigational or editorial material on Shave Compass are provided as informational and curatorial guidance.
Scent perception, shaving performance, blade feel, skin response, and individual preferences are subjective and can vary significantly from person to person. A product’s placement, classification, description, or recommendation by Shave Compass is not a guarantee that you will experience the product in the same way.
Information about third-party products may be based on information provided by artisans or manufacturers, publicly available information, community experience, and Shave Compass’s own research, organization, and editorial judgment.
Shave Compass Intellectual Property
Shave Compass owns or licenses the original content and materials created for the Shave Compass website and brand. This includes, as applicable, the Shave Compass name and logos, original written content, graphics, photography, Map Charts, badges, Expedition materials and presentation, original Scent Atlas and Blade Atlas content, scent-territory names and descriptions, original classifications and mappings, and the original selection, coordination, organization, and presentation of Shave Compass content and data.
These materials are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Except for ordinary personal use of the website, no Shave Compass material may be copied, reproduced, republished, modified, distributed, sold, licensed, or commercially exploited without prior written permission from Shave Compass.
You may not systematically scrape, extract, harvest, download, reproduce, or compile Shave Compass content or data for republication, resale, commercial analysis, the creation or operation of a competing commercial product or service, or the creation of a substantially similar commercial database, guide, atlas, taxonomy, or discovery tool.
You may not use Shave Compass’s original content or data to train, populate, develop, or operate a commercial artificial intelligence system, machine-learning model, dataset, recommendation system, or other automated commercial product without prior written permission.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Shave Compass intellectual property or grants any license except the limited right to access and use the website for its intended personal purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Artisan and Third-Party Intellectual Property
Shave Compass does not claim ownership of intellectual property belonging to the artisans, manufacturers, suppliers, or other third parties represented on the site.
Artisan and manufacturer names, product names, trademarks, logos, product photography, product descriptions, artwork, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners or licensors. Their appearance on Shave Compass does not transfer ownership to Shave Compass or imply ownership by Shave Compass.
Shopify and other third-party names, trademarks, and services remain the property of their respective owners.
Third-Party Products and Links
Shave Compass may sell products manufactured by third parties and may also provide links to products or resources available directly from artisans or other websites.
A link from Shave Compass to another website does not make Shave Compass the seller of products purchased on that website. Purchases made directly from an artisan or another third party are transactions between you and that third party and are subject to that party’s terms, shipping practices, return policies, and privacy practices.
Shave Compass is not responsible for the content, availability, policies, or operation of third-party websites.
Reviews, Feedback, and Submissions
If you voluntarily provide a product review, testimonial, suggestion, photograph, comment, or other feedback to Shave Compass, you confirm that you have the right to provide it.
You grant Shave Compass permission to use, reproduce, and display that material in connection with operating, improving, or promoting Shave Compass. You retain ownership of your original material. Shave Compass will not claim ownership of an idea merely because you send feedback or a suggestion.
Shave Compass may remove submissions that are unlawful, misleading, abusive, infringing, or otherwise inappropriate.
Website Availability and Errors
I make reasonable efforts to keep Shave Compass accurate and available, but I cannot guarantee that the website will always operate without interruption or error.
Occasionally, product descriptions, prices, inventory, shipping information, classifications, or other site content may contain an error or become outdated. Shave Compass may correct errors and update information when discovered. If an error materially affects an order you have already placed, I will contact you and address the affected order reasonably.
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Shave Compass does not guarantee that the website, informational content, or third-party products will meet every individual expectation or preference.
Nothing on Shave Compass is intended as medical or professional advice. Customers are responsible for reviewing product ingredients and determining whether a personal-care product is appropriate for their individual needs. Discontinue use of a product if irritation or an adverse reaction occurs and seek appropriate professional advice when necessary.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Shave Compass will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the website or products purchased through it.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right, warranty, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Privacy
Personal information collected through Shave Compass is handled according to the Shave Compass Privacy Policy. Shopify and other service providers may also process information as necessary to operate the store, process payments, fulfill orders, prevent fraud, provide website functionality, and perform other services described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time as Shave Compass, its products, or its services evolve. The current version will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
Changes will apply prospectively from their effective date except where otherwise required by law.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
